During my first few trips to Tokyo, I spent a lot of time in the supermarkets, especially in the snacks sections. I just love being in Japanese supermarket's snacks sections simply because they always have all this cute and mouth-watering snacks. That was when I first found these miniature food packages, it's like a DIY sweets where you mix and shape them into foods. And they're completely edible. After all this time, I almost forgot that they existed until a few months ago when I came across these food toys in the supermarket again. At that moment, I really couldn't help but to buy all kinds of the food toys available.
I haven't exactly made a a lot of them until I realized that they're going to expire soon and there are still a lot of them left. Which was why during the weekend I made two of them : The sushi package & the doughnuts package.
And this was where it got interesting. Making the roes was the most interesting part of all. One smooth squeeze into a pool of liquid and you can have all the candy roes you want. Surprisingly, the textures are exactly like roes.
You can even make something like soy sauce. Except, well it's candy, so it tastes nothing like the real soy sauce. Although it looks exactly like soy sauce.
Everything you need is in the box, including the doughnuts molds and mini piping bag.
